Up Till Now: The Autobiography
by William Shatner with David Fisher
narrated by William Shatner
Macmillan Audio

I was given a copy of William Shatner’s new audio and thought ok, this might be interesting.  It isn’t your typically autobiography.  It doesn’t start with “I was born and raised in a small town," or any such thing.  It jumps into his early life in Canada working in plays many years before any of us had heard of Captain Kirk.  Not having been born yet, I forget that he was somebody before the TV series Star Trek.  I also had forgotten that it was really a very short run for a series--it actually only aired for three years.

The audio does spend the majority of the time on his life as Kirk, but like most people, that is how I remember him. I had forgetten he was T.J Hooker and the Priceline.com spokesperson as well as acted in The Practice and Boston Legal. I certainly didn’t know he had actually won Emmys for any of his roles.

He really is a tragic figure that has had four wives and many times where he wondered if he would ever get beyond being known for his role on Star Trek.

This audio started out a little slowly and the recording sometimes fades as he moves from the microphone; but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I still don’t know how old he is; but then again he may live on forever.
