Volume III, Issue 9

Fall is here, and we encourage you to visit Ingram at many state conferences around the country. Find out about the latest ipage® enhancements, register to win collections of books and audios from National Geographic or Penton Overseas, respectively, and take a moment to talk with your Ingram Account Manager about new ways Ingram can save you time and money.

Thanks so much for completing our survey about this publication--your responses were both helpful and insightful! Because of your feedback, we will be making some changes in this and future issues of Further Developments.

Reader’s Advisory: Vegetarian Cookbooks
With the last of the summer harvest and the beginning of soup season, consider adding to your vegetarian cookbook collection. Ingram librarian Norma Lilly has developed this list of recently published and forthcoming books that will appeal to your patrons who spurn meat and might even convert some carnivores.

Dear Libby
It's Library Card Sign Up month, and my city council members still don't have library cards--not to mention most of the city administrators! How can I encourage them and other non-card carrying members of my community to darken our doors?
--Library Cardholder since 1963

Dear Library Cardholder:
Yes, libraries are a bargain and the best way to drive that point home with the people who hold the purse strings is to make them library users. Have you visited the “Build a Promotion” shortcut on the upper left side of the ipage homepage? If not, this can be a boon for a stretched marketing team or for a library that doesn't even have design support. Right now, you can download a table or door sign promoting Library Card Sign Up month that I suggest you post at the places where your council members gather. Print copies and take them to local restaurants and parks. And it doesn't stop there! Check weekly for new themes with graphics designed by the award-winning Ingram design team.

Do you have a question for Libby? Each month, we take common questions from librarians and one of the Ingram experts dons the mask of our Super Librarian to respond. To send a question, just email dearlibby@ingrambook.com.
