Updates for Top Author List on Author (Adult) Standing Order Program

On the Author (Adult) enrollment form, you may have noticed that some authors' names appear in bold print.  These are the top 140 authors on the program as ranked by customer enrollments, and their titles are automatically released for shipment, while the other authors' titles are held for consolidation (unless they have a Street Smart date).  We are pleased to announce that the following authors now qualify for the Top Authors list:

While some authors are rising stars, the careers of others are on a different trajectory.  These authors will still be offered on the program, but they will no longer be included on the Top Authors list.

The early chapter book series The Sneaky Pony from Chronicle Books will end with the September title. Young fans can expect a new series from the same author, Hadley Higginson, in spring 2009.

Some of the most frequent questions D. J. MacHale receives about his hit series--Pendragon--are now addressed in three thrilling prequels from Aladdin. Each book in Pendragon:Before the War contains three short stories showing fans what life was like for the travelers before they met Bobby Pendragon. Book One of The Travelers releases in November.  All subscribers to the paperback Pendragon offering will automatically receive the three prequel volumes. Retail price is only $6.99 each.

Scholastic is very excited about its new interactive series 39 Clues. The fascinating mystery-quest follows Dan and Amy Cahill as they search for 39 clues scattered all over the earth that if found and deciphered will tell them the source of their mysterious family's power. Rick Riordan has outlined the series and written the first book. Subsequent titles will be written by Gordon Korman, Peter Lerangis, Jude Wason and other authors yet to be announced. The ten titles offered via the standing order program have reinforced library bindings at the same price as trade hardcover editions, but do not contain the clue cards found in the trade hardcover editions. Each book can be read and enjoyed without the clue cards. However, library readers can purchase the cards in their favorite bookstores. Likewise, libraries may purchase the card packs separately from Ingram if they so desire. The first clue card pack relates to the first three books.

New to the Graphic Novel Youth Standing Order Program this month is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya from Yen Press and recommended for older teens. Associated with this series is recently released hot anime product, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Complete Collection. This highly anticipated Japanese series and anime finally makes its way to the U.S.  It tells the tale of high school student, Haruhi who is only interested in humans with paranormal abilities. She drafts Kyon to help her in her search without knowing fully about her own powers. Kyon soon discovers his chances for a normal high school experience is lost because of her irrepressible personality. Haruhi does not realize she, herself, has the power to create and destroy entire universes at her slightest whim. If she did it could spell disaster for everyone.
