Looking for Titles for Struggling and Reluctant Readers?
Stone Arch Books, a publishing newcomer, has as its mission to seek out the struggling and reluctant reader--especially boys between the ages of 8 and 12--and provide them with high-interest, high-quality, safe stories that are free of sex, bad language, explicit violence, or any other potentially problematic elements. Some titles do deal with more mature topics such as divorce and war, but are properly identified with an appropriate age rating. All Stone Arch titles are library bound and have smooth, easy-to-read font that facilitates letter discrimination.

Three levels of graphic novels have been introduced since January of this year. Graphic Sparks, introduced for 8-10 year-olds with reading levels of grades 1-3, are harmless, goofy exploits full of school, homework, siblings and sometimes off-beat humor. Graphic Trax, for 8-12 year-olds with reading levels of grades 2-3, have slightly more sophisticated humor, science fiction thrills and sports action. Graphic Quest titles created for the 8-12 year-old with a reading level of grade 3 are realistic, riveting action-adventures, sports thrillers, and age-appropriate scary fiction. In January 2007, Stone Arch will introduce its first line of graphic classics called Graphic Revolve. These full-color, graphic classic revisions are written for 10-14 year-old struggling readers, or anyone else wanting first exposure to history's most timeless stories. All four lines of graphic novels are conveniently available through Ingram's Youth Graphic Novel Standing Order Program.
