The Watchman: A Joe Pike Novel
By Robert Crais
Brilliance Audio
Read by James Daniels

Joe Pike, the ex-cop, ex-Marine, ex-mercenary, and all-around genuinely tough guy has an obligation to his old mentor in the police department and finds himself guarding a young, beautiful, and mega-wealthy woman. Larkin Barkley has everything the world can offer. She is rich beyond reason but desperately wants her father to notice her. After an automobile accident, Larkin finds herself the target of assassins. Pike is committed to keeping her safe, but he realizes that someone is selling their locations to the bad guys. With the help of Elvis Cole, Pike does what he does best: he protects Larkin and uncovers the real sources of danger. This Pike is the same one we know from previous novels, but we see yet another side of this tough guy. This is a thoroughly satisfying novel.

James Daniels does an excellent job of keeping the action going. He has the perfect voice for Pike and makes it easy to know which character is speaking. On nine discs, this novel was always compelling, making me stay in the car to continue to listen far longer than I should have! I would recommend this audiobook to all action, thriller, or mystery fans.--Norma Lilly, MLS
