Each October, the Nobel Prize is awarded for the year's most notable achievements in a variety of areas, from literature to science to peace. Earlier this month, Nobels were awarded in chemistry, physics, and medicine.
Although they may not be aware of it, your students benefit from the advances made by these Nobel Prize recipients. For example, the winners of the 2009 Nobel in physics are responsible for the groundbreaking technology utilized in fiber optics and networked societies. In other words, they helped to create the technology that transports data, sound, and video across the globe on the Internet.
